boxing bikes

Hi People, if any one is interested in a packing company, I can highly reccommend the folowing based on the job they did for me when I flew the bike to Argentina. The measured up the bike and using the strange formula for dimensions and weight that shipping agents have, advised me as to what was worth taking off and what wasn´t so I ended up only dropping the screen, taking off the mirrors and squeezing the boxes. it´s a BMWR1200GS so you can do those sort of things. Anyway the upshot was that including delivery to the shippers at Heathrow, a charge of around 250 pounds stirling for an excellent job. The company:

Casemakers Packing Ltd.
Unit 13, International Trading Estate
Trident Way, Brent Rd.
Southall.
Middlesex.
UB1 5LF

Hi People, I´m afraid I didn´t take any pictures of the crate ´cos to my jaded artistic viewpoint a crate is a crate but it was quite heavy ply and the bike was well secured inside, and it would have been reusable no problem. The weight of the bike and bits was 260k and the total weight was 400k. The shippers that I used were Davis Turner who I believe ship from all over the UK and they charged 1600 pounds but as this was a last minute bit of a panic as the previous shipper that I was going to send the bike with, an international agency whose name begins with a U withdrew at the last minute for reasons best known to them. The point of contact that I used was Tony Mckieth.
e-mail. tonymckieth@davisturner.com Hope that this is of some use, ride safe.
