Alaska to Vladavostok

Anyone got any suggestions on how to get a bike (KTM 690) from Alaska to Vladivostok. I am planning a round the world trip starting early 2017 in Australia and one of the legs I need to transport the bike is from Alaska into Russia. I would prefer to fly the bike. I can't find a way to fly from Alaska to Magadan so I am looking at Vladivostok, which is proving challenging, it seems like most people go to Japan or South Korea - if possible I would prefer to go straight to Russia.

Anyone with any suggestions would be a huge help.

thanks Steve

There is summer seasonal air service on Yakutia Airlines from Anchorage to Yakutsk via Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. About 10 hours of travel. 737 aircraft and $1100 one way on Kayak. Not sure if they would carry the bike? Yakutsk is pretty far from Magadan but at least an idea to explore.

Unless it is a (very rare) combi configured aircraft with a main deck cargo door - something I doubt very much - a 737 is unsuitable for motorcycle transport, unless the moto is broken down into numerous small individually packaged pieces. This is because there is no provision on a 737 for mechanical loading of freight, all the baggage and freight is hand-loaded into small compartments in the bottom of the aircraft.

Hi

Have you tried Aeroflot (Russian Airlines). Quite a few years ago I was going to fly my bike to Vladivostok with Aeroflot out of Seattle. They were willing to ship it by air. As I recall they only flew once or twice a week via Alaska.

Shipping to vladivostok

I drove a Land Rover from barcelona to Vlad last year and got my container shpment done from a guy called Yuri Melnikov and his assistant Svetlana Sven.
They are based in Vlad and were incredibly competent. Spoke Great english and good German. Got answers to my emails usually within 3 hours. I think their company is called Links. Can highly recommend them for finding the best transport and sorting customs clearance
