What to do with an abandonded bike

I have an abandoned bike in my possession here in Colombia and am wondering if there is a way to get it back on the road. Unfortunately I don't have any of the paperwork and am unable to contact the original owner.

Strip it, sell the parts and put the proceeds towards a bike with papers!

You would need to get a notery.

I sold my UK bike to another UK citizen in Bogota. He rode it around for years.

You're going to need the original papers though. You'll have to start by applying for them in the bikes country of origin.

But in Colombia, anything is possible. Make yourself some papers then get a TIP at the next border. Chaaauuuu

Colombia seemed to have a police check every few miles in some areas and they were mostly concentrating on checking motorbike riders, so making up papers might not be such a good idea.
