Visa's

I am planning a UK to Oz trip next year. Does anyone have any tips on getting visa's for Pakistan, Iran and India!
Any other information on the above would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

I got the following info. from Paul Ackland which might be of interest:

"Also about India; try not to get a visa too far in advance. We've had hassels galore with this. The Iranian's wouldn't give a visa unless we had a Pakistani one expected) and the Pakistani's said the same about us needing an Indian visa (Not expected). We applied 3 times for the Pak. visa before getting it, and in the end had to get the Indian way before time. The other couple travelling had no difficulty. The real problem developed later when we tried to cancel and re-issue the visa in Islamabad (refused) and then to get it extended in
India; a really stressful expensive and time consuming process. Be warned!

On visas finally; the Iranian one was v. easy and cheap to extend but expensive to get. We used Magic Carpet travel. Others got theirs at Istambul but this took at least 1 week. Some people only got a few days; we had 3 weeks and extended this by as much again."

I hope this is some use.

I would suggest getting visas on route. (we got all ours before leaving and its been nothing but hassle).
However, anyone out there needs a visa extension in India, one to six months are available from Global Links Travel, behind the German Bakery near the Ashram in Pune. Cost is 1500 per month.

We got our India, Pakistan and Iranian visas in London before leaving in September. Completely hassle free - no probs. However as Kirsten says things change - who could have predicted world events since. We ended up shipping from Aqaba in Jordan direct to India and so "wasted" our Iranian and Pakistan visas. We still hope to use our Pakistan ones before they expire on 3rd March.
It's personal choice whether or not you get organised before you leave or be prepared for delays on route as you sort out visas. We've met or been in touch with people who had to backtrack from Eastern Turkey all the way back to Istanbul to sort out visas and others who have had to wait days for visas to be granted. But they didn't end up wasting theirs like we did. Horses for courses.
