Visa requirements: Onward travel confirmation

Hello All,

Quick question that i can't find the answer to from previous threads.

Visa requirements for some African countries (Tunisia, Libya etc) stipulate you need confirmed return/onward tickets. Do i assume a carnet and a story around the trip and planned exit from the country suffices?

Much thanks

Thinking about this myself and i'm after the same info..

From what I've gathered. Proof of a forwarding visa is often enough or a ticket out of the country or out of a different country helps too.

Thanks Ted, I've just taken a look at your blog and noted your reference to the venice-Egypt ferry. Looks very interesting. I'm heading down the east coast of Africa at the end of August and the thought of cutting out the Tunisia & Libya distance and visa hassle is very appealing.
Have you considered jumping off in Syria and riding down through Jordan? I think there's a ferry that then takes you across to Nuweiba.

Yup, that was our plan before this ferry showed up..

We're going to get into Africa as soon as possible just to conserve funds. I have a future trip planned of greece/turkey and they're much closer to home so just playing it safe money wise.

Got it!

What are you doing about a carnet for Egypt? Even with a massively devalued estimate of the bike's worth at 800% it's a concern!

My bank very happy to issue a guarenty indemnity but at a cost (£250).

Rgds

I've got my Carnet quote back from the RAC. It's about £8500 (my bike is down for £1150).

Barclays said it will be £120 charge IF they grant it.

This is why you need a cheap bike for Africa.
