Visa for Algeria
 

In less than two weeks I'm starting a trip from the UK (I'm from Milwaukee, WI) and hope to do some riding in Algeria. After checking their website I
see they require a visa for me to visit ($135!) The catch is the application
asks for residence while there complete with dates and addresses. I can
guess within a few days hen I would be arriving but I have no idea where
I will be staying?

I've tried searching the HUBB but I've only found older threads concerning getting a visa for Algeria. Can anyone enlighten me as to whether this is really necessary or how I should fill this part out?

Did you end up making it to Algeria? What was the process like? I'm planning to go from the UK and through Algeria as well (except next summer) and I'd love some info on your experience with the visa and the temporary importation of your vehicle.

I called up the US Algerian embassy and they weren't very helpful.

I asked user "bernardo feio lightweight" about his experience a few months ago and he said they entered at Gnazaouet by ferry from Almeria, that the visa and importation costs about 60 euros at the border, and that guides are around 50 euros/day (no car) or 100 euros/day (with car).
