Want to ship into US but out of South America.
Just wondering about getting a US visa without a return air ticket.
What are my options please?

a return ticket or ongoing destination is usually asked at check in before you go thru security to your departure gate
Some times you dont get asked
I dont know about the visa thing many nationalities do not require visas to enter the USA

A ticket for return travel is just about essential for travel to the US, I have been asked every time I have flown there, also shipping/flying your bike into Canada is less hassle then ride it across the border but you will still need a return ticket.

When you apply for a USA visa they will tell you NOT to buy a ticket, on the basis that the application may be refused.

Thanks for the replies but it’s still as clear as mud:eek3:
- We are freighting into Canada.
- We need tourist visas from the UK - they are available up to 6 months, which is plenty.
- Apparently we need a return ticket to get the visa stamped going in but we are not returning from the US.

I’m sure there’s a simple answer but I’m just looking for options/suggestions

If you are from the UK lets not call it a visa, its a Business or Pleasure stamp you receive you are confusing a lot of people
If you for say are a Russian or many other nationalities then you need a visa
A visa is permission to enter the states or many other countries in which diplomatic ties between countries are not well established

This is not quite correct. As a UK citizen you might be able to enter the US without a visa, but on the other hand you might need a visa, depending on what you're doing and how long you're staying. Read the fine print on the US State Department website, and decide which category suits you--most will use the visa waiver program because it's easier and cheaper. Edit to add: OP, I think part of your problem here is that your posts are a bit murky. First you're shipping to the US, now apparently into Canada. Then you're asking about visas, but...for the US, or Canada? If you fly into Canada, then ride across the border to the US, everything works differently--you won't need an onward ticket (obviously), and you don't need the advance approval (ESTA) for your visa waiver either. But if you're not specific about what you're planning and what you're asking, responses will lead you astray.

Yes, sorry, I was originally intending to ship into US but now (hopefully) Canada and forgot momentarily.
I guess it’s confusing with people from different countries - different rules, terminology……..
