UK riders European Health Card
 

For UK riders trying to get the E111 replacement health card a quick warning. My boss got ripped off £15.00 this morning because he never reads before he clicks.

The card is FREE. You can get it online or by filling a form in at the post office. All you need to know is your name, your date of birth and your NI number. Having got this far however, you will be offered two services, the post office form checker over the counter for £3.00 or an online check for £15.00. You can decline and just send the form for FREE. If you can't fill in this simple form with the right info and not get it right before you run up £15 or even £3 worth of postage, I'm afraid there really isn't any hope for you, but the information from the NHS and post office is very poor at pointing this out.

I've heard of websites offering this form-filling service for a cost - didn't this also feature on one of the consumer rights programmes on TV a while back (watchdog?)?

You are quite right - there is no charge for this card and the form is easy to fill in.
Just check your card though as they are not 'lifetime' cards - there is an expiry date
