Turkey - Vehicle Crossing

hi everyone my friend can bring my bike and defender from Austria (where it has been during lockdown) to Ankara. I cannot fetch it myself due to Covid restrictions in Austria. He has all the original ownership papers for the vehicle and bike plus insurance allowing him to bring my vehicle. My only concern is i read recently that any foreigner bringing a vehicle or bike into the country can do so for 6 months, BUT they will have the temporary import stamped into their passport so they cannot exit without the vehicle. Just to be clear he is flying out and then i am continuing overland to Iran and beyond.

If anyone can shed some light on the above i would highly appreciate it, thanks dean

I believe you will have to meet him at the border and have it entered in your passport when it enters Turkey. SHOULD be straightforward (especially if it is on a carnet) but will undoubtedly need some explaining. Alternatively, if you cross out of Turkey at the border, enter whichever country your friend is coming from, then cross back next day with the car, that will take less explaining.

thanks for the reply, damn that is bad news, because i cannot enter into any countries on the western side bordering with turkey due to covid restrictions on my passport.......
