turist buying bike in texas ride to SA
it's not possible to register title at my name in texas, it will have my name on the back, and the dealer's name, the receipt bill and the dealer's plates. Is it possible to travel to mexico, South america with that title ?

Good luck, but..
If the dealer is still listed as an owner or co-owner you will need a notarized document from the dealer allowing you to take it out of the country. That may work Mexico, the other countries a big question mark. I would plan on spending a lot of time at border crossings and a good knowledge of Spanish and some available cash would be really helpful.

Well, in theory there's a buyer's and seller's column, so it's suppose to be transfered, but I don't know if it's enough. I'm from Argentina, so I have a good spanish :) But what worries me is if having the original title with the transfer in the reverse side will not convince the authorities at the border and get stucked there...

I'm in the same boat
Hi,
I am in a similar situation. I am travelling with a European passport and am looking at purchasing a Florida registered motorcycle in Mexico for touring through Central America and I am having trouble finding any information on the legality of travelling with a registration document that is not in my name. If you or anyone has information on how boarder crossings would be I'd greatly appreciate the help. I've taken a look through the HUBB but have not found anything that answers this particular question. Many Thanks, Alan |
