trying to understand carnets, import permits etc.
 

3 years ago i travelled SA on a klr 650. Border crossings were easy. No need for carnets. Everything done on arrival at the borders.

Now i am planning a trip from thailand to laos, china, mongolia, Russia, the stans and onto Europe on a foreign registered bike. Im trying to find the info here but stuggling.

Am i right in thinking chinaa will be a problem? I will need lots of paperwork, and a guide to take me through?

Any tips or anyone whos done this recently would be a
great help
