Travelling from UK to Europe, owner not present

Has anyone transported bikes into Europe since Brexit, with the owners not present?

I know that currently it’s the case that businesses need a Carnet to transport bikes over, Torque Racing have had to prepare a Carnet for every item from underpants to the bikes for transporting bikes to the Hellas Rally.

But what about transporting mates bikes in a van, with them flying in to meet the bikes? There were a lot of questions about this and I have a trip planned later in the year like this and wondered if anyone has done this recently, ie this year.

If the owner is not riding the bike through customs it's considered a possible import, with duty payable. One of the joys of Brexit.

Seems to be resolved now. It’s been the case anyway that with your own bikes and riders present it’s been ok but looks like this solves the whole issue.

We tested this in June/July, taking 3 KTM 690's in a van, with owners present, to France on the Eurotunnel.

No problem at all. Customs did open the van, said "Huh. Motos" and that was it. We were not asked for any paperwork, clearing immigration both ways took about 3 minutes, and about the same at customs.

I also see shipping your bike to Europe with a carrier is now back on, although this operator does UK-Malaga only
