Transferring ownership of foreign moto in Chile

Hey all,

I know this question has been asked to death but can't quite find an example of our exact situation and want to clarify how this will work (on the off chance some of you have been through the process).

I am Canadian, selling my Canadian KLR to another (non-chilean) traveller.

We will have my original Canadian ownership document and a notarized power of attorney detailing the sale of bike to the buyer.

My understanding is that we can ride to the Chilean Imm/aduana, get our immigration exit stamps, go through the process of exporting the bike. Then (without ever entering argentina or going through argentine customs) we can reenter Chile, but this time import the bike under the buyers name.

Is this possible or wishful thinking?

Any info much appreciated.

Thanks,

Gareth

EDIT:

I used this as a reference:

They exited and re-entered without ever going to Argentina. Our process would be the same just changing owners in the process.
