Syrian Visa

I had been reading this forum for quite some time now, and got lots of valuable information. But now I have to ask a question for myself. Hope you can help.

It's about the Syrian visa application. They want me to provide a "reference address" and an "exact address in Syria". But I actually wanted to find a stay only when being in the country. Not in advance. So I called the embassy and asked what exactly to put in these fields. And they just always said "hotel". :confused1: I couldn't believe they did mean this literally... so I wrote them an email explaining the situation, which was just ignored.

So what about you? Has someone of you been in Syria? What did you provide them with? And is one bound to the address one provides? As I wanted to travel around, not staying all the time at the same place! I guess you get the point...

Hey. These are common questions on Middle East visa applications. Don't stress about them.

For Destination, just put the capital city. For "Exact Address," just pick a hotel that looks good to you in the guidebook... if you have a guidebook. That's it.

You don't have to actually go to the hotel on your application if you don't want. It doesn't really matter because, wherever you check in, the hotel takes all your information and reports you to the authorities anyway. They will always know where you are, unless you stay with someone in their home... then they lose you and get a little nervous.

Have fun in Syria. It's a cool country and it's an interesting time to be there. (I'll be there in about a month.) Tensions might be a little high. Stay safe.
