South Africa Carnet Horror
I've just been quoted 138 quid (plus courier fees) by the AASA in Jo'burg to extend my carnet which expires 2 days after I cross into SA. It also appears to be a massive time-consuming pain in the arse.
Here's the question - can I stamp out of Mozambique on my way, then get some kind of temp. import permit for South Africa instead? I.E. is there any way of getting into SA without a carnet??? ------------------ Simon http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/tstories/fitzpatrick [This message has been edited by Sime66 (edited 01 November 2005).] |
I am a south african so I do not have 1st hand experience of your problem but i do know that i few friends living in mozambique and swaziland does not need a carne to move between SA and there home countries and the same for use when we go across the border.
Do not think there would been a problem. Good luck |
You need a replacement carnet, not an extension. Contact the issuing AA for that. You leave with the old one, enter with the new one and post the old one back.
