Senegal Visa / Passavant problems - Please help!
 

Hi

We are travelling through Africa on small motorbikes. We are in Nouakchott.

We planned to pick up our Senegal Visas here, after enrolling online. The Embassy in Nouakchott has told us we can not do it here, we have to go to Rosso to collect. (despite it being an option on their website to collect here...)

We didn't plan on using Rosso, but looks like we will have to.

Now the problem is: our Visa is dated 10th October. Our passavants 9th October.

If we arrive at Rosso on the 10th, will we get fined for the day over we are?

If we arrive at Rosso on the 9th, will we be allowed through early, or still have to wait 48h to get the visa?

Hi Oli,

since you haven't got the actual Visa yet, the date is not fixed, you can change it when you collect it. The other option is to extent your passavant, you can do that in Nouakchott, it's even free of charge.

Also the border at Diama is currently closed, you have to go through Rosso anyway.


BTW I'm currently near Saint-Louis at 7Palava, having exchanged my bicycle for a chinese copy of a Honda Wave last week to continue my journey to Cape Town :)

Thanks Alex. Maybe we can meet up - We're planning on going to Zebra Bar for a few nights.

One more problem,

As we had planned to do the completion of the Visa at Nouakchott, we didn't scan in the documents to the electronic system online, so we only have ONE email, the confirmation of payment.

Not a problem if we could collect at Nouakchott, but will this be an issue at Rosso?

Don't want to get stranded there.

That shouldn't be a problem, quite a few people only received the first email and got their visa at the border.
