Russian e-visa expanded for 2021

Russia's Prime Minister just signed the bill into law. TLDR:

* Apply online, fill out a form, upload a photo and a scan of your passport.
* No bookings or invitations necessary.
* 40 USD fee.
* Approved within 4 days of applying. (Let's assume 4 business days, to be safe.)
* Must present the printed-out version of your approval at the border!
* Valid for 60 days from the moment of approval, maximum total stay in Russia is 16 days. Extendable in case of emergency, by special decision of the Foreign Ministry.
* Valid for overland entry/exit in Kaliningrad, Pskov and Leningrad regions, list to be expanded as new border crossings get the right equipment.
* Valid for marine entry/exit at the ports of St Petersburg and Vladivostok/Zarubino.
* Valid for air entry/exit at a bunch of international airports right across the country.
* Expressly valid for travel across the entire country, not just the region where you entered!
* Valid for citizens of EU/EEA and a bunch of other countries.
* Still NOT valid for UK, US or Canadian citizens!

So if travel bans are lifted by Summer of 2021, and you think you can go from St Petersburg to Vladivostok in 16 days, then here's your chance! (Realistically, the major Kazakhstan and Mongolia border crossings are likely to be added to the list soon.)

Russia

Thank you for posting.

As I could not go to Europe and Western Russia this summer, maybe its gonna be next year.

But 16days wont be enough, thats for sure .... so maybe an extension or a normal visa over an agency again.

Paca

An extension would be difficult (that's not what this visa is meant for). But you could e.g. cross at Pskov or SPb and ride down to Georgia or Kazakhstan (assuming their crossings will be added to the list).

I also expect that they will extend the validity time after a while if the e-visa is popular.

Great news.
All I need to to is to be able to get out of Australia now!
Oh yes, and get a vaccine.

That could be very useful. Currently I'm planning a 90 days double entry business visa to get to Magadan, followed by Mongolia then into Kazakhstan. The headache comes right at the end, when I have to go from MN to RU to reach KZ, and I suspect time will be running tight on the visa. I'll look forward to seeing how this develops. Thanks for the info AnTyx!

Vehicle Stuck In Russia Due to Travel Restrcictions

Hi
Great comments & tips you have on this post at Horizon Unlimited.

I would like to ask for any advice about my New Zealand Registered vehicle which is now stored in Anapa, Russia at this time. That I ,am driving around the World with this vehicle.

In September 2019 I entered into Russia from Georgia at the land border with my Toyota Landcruiser. This meant I was allowed to have my vehicle in Russia for a 12 month period up to September 2020 before I had to leave Russia with my vehicle.

I have left my Toyota Landcruiser in storage at a friend’s farm in Anapa and Departed Moscow for New Zealand in October 2019 and was planning to return to Anapa in April 2020 to carry on with my travels but due to the Global Covid-19 Lockdown travel restrictions I have not yet been able to return to Russia as planned.

Do you think I will have any issues when I finally get to Travel back to Russia and collect my vehicle and depart for the EU?
