Registering a bike in France

Hi all,

I'm trying to sell an Italian registered bike to a friend in Paris. He tells me that he will need a certificate of conformity to BMW construction. Does anyone know how/where to obtain such a document? I've never heard of it.

Many thanks!

Normally, the buyer contacts the country franchise holder (BMW France) who will send them a form to complete and ask them for a cheque for €176:nono:

They will also require copies of the Italian rego but all that is in the letter you receive.

BMW is at:

Service Homologation
BMW Group France
BP 70066
67016 Strasbourg CEDEX
Tel: 0825 000 269 (15cents/min)
or 038841 79 79

Check though, you don't say how old it is, but SOME of the more recent registration papers have the same number on as the European Certificate of Conformity and so it's not needed by SOME of the prefectures. Get him to take a copy of it into the Prefecture to see.

He may also be able to get the equivalent certificate from the DRIRE for about €50-60, although they tend to do that more for cars.
