Not sure if I missed something in your post or not, but importing and registering are two different things. CBSA does not care as long as you present paperwork proving the bike is more than 15 years old. The issue may come if you want to put a plate on it and ride legally. For that it can be more complex in the case of vehicles that have not been marketed in North America. If it is in the RIV system as in most of the vehicles coming from USA it is simple. If not it can be more complicated. I recently went through a similar process in BC, so have some contacts of insurance agents and the correct ICBC departments to enquire. I would suggest you contact both of these prior to purchase, or if you are not from BC, and wish to put a plate on your bike and insure it for road use, the relevant departments in your province.

Everything is in place (famous last words) apart from ONE thing.... I cannot setup a Ebay Germany account as they require a German phone number for verification. THUS I cannot contact sellers in Germany (private sellers)
AHHHHH if anyone can help me that has a German phone number I would be extremely grateful. On the good news front, All of the Canada legal questions have been answered and there should be no issues once its in town. From the German standpoint, with the insurance, export plates all those answers seem to be sorted out. Need to ensure the bike has a recent TUV. So come April (when the shipping option I am going with comes into action) its shopping time. :funmeteryes: |
