Prov UK licence in france/spain?

Hi, can anyone tell me if riding my Yamaha Townmate T80 (79cc) on a provisional UK license, from UK, through France and into Spain, is permitted/allowed/legal. Or....alas, are the thrills of the open road still barred to me.

That's a great question pptunes, but I have no idea what the answer is!
However, as an opinion only, so long as your insurance company will provide you with cover I reckon no one else would be any the wiser.

I've travelled similar routes in Europe and I have never, ever been asked for any documentation to do with the vehicles that I have used; it is all open borders nowadays, so there is no one to ask in general; it would be a completely different case if you were to have an accident or (unlucky!!) be pulled over in a spot check in, say, France (the flics do that there on occasions). If you stayed off the major national routes, including the motorways, then this is very unlikely.

So stick your GB plate on the back of the Townmate and just do it!

:welcome: here BTW.

How old are you PP, if your in your teens i'd check the minimum driving ages in the countries your visiting for your cc of bike, if your an old git like me ignore this.

PP,
you need a full GB driving licence to drive in europe.

The minimum driving age in Spain is 18 for cars (for Type B vehicles over 3,500 kg.)

A ‘B’ licence also allows you to drive a moped up to 50cc, and currently, a motorbike up to 125cc – although the central traffic authority is studying annulling the latter.

The minimum age for a moped licence (without a car licence) is now 16, and for above 50cc, 18.

Unlike England, there are no provisional licences so before you pass your test, the only person you can drive with is your instructor.

Looks like you should enjoy the thrills of open roads in the UK for now; 10000 miles of coast line to go at - that should keep you busy until you pass your test.
