papers needed when buying a bike in Mexico
Hi there,
I'm planning to buy a bike in Mexico city and then tour around all Central America. I went on some local vendors sites -in espaƱol- and I've seen that "tenencias" and "nacional" reg are often mentioned in the comments. Does someone knows exactly what kind of official papers I need to get when buying the bike to don't have any prob then when I'll tour? ciao philippe |
documents in mexico
Hola,
in 2003 I met a young Australian biker in Quito, Ecuador. He had come down from Mexico with his bike, a Yamaha Seca 650. The only document he had was the contract with the dealer in Mexico City in Spanish, no rego document, no title nothing. He used a US numberplate, but had no documents for it. He managed to ride down to Argentina and sold the bike there, but he had a lot of problems (or fun, depending on your point of view) at the borders. So get your paperwork right, at least get a title and maybe rego documents in your name. Enjoy your ride suerte Mika |
