Pakistani visa

Hi, can anyone help ? I just went to the Pakistani embassy in Canberra, to ask what's the procedure. I was told this :
- you cannot apply for a visa to Pakistan in India or Thailand or Malaysia (which are the three "big" countries along my way from Australia to Europe) but you must apply from either a European country or Canberra

- you could apply for the visa at the Chinese-Pakistani border checkpoint of Sost, the problem is I am not going to China since it costs an arm and a leg (unless someone contradicts this, which would be good news)

- the visa is valid for six months, allows for 30days only and get only requested max 3 month prior to enter. I won't be in Pakistan before May-June 2013.

So, what do I do ? Do I try Delhi or Bangkok anyways and plead my case there ? Do I send my passport by courier to Canberra and hope it gets sent back to me ?

I gotta go tru Paki as the other choices are : Afghanistan, which is a bad idea, or China, which is very expensive.

Thanks for ur help. I should be leaving Australia on 15th of June this year to Dili.

B.

Sounds cool Clive. I'll be crossing in a Landcruiser though but we'll keep in touch defo. I try to avoid going to China but as you said, sharing the cost may be an option.

Cheers,
B.

I sent it from India back to Australia a month before I was due to enter into Pakistan. To do this, you have to be prepaired to wait for it to be returned (takes about three weeks via DHL there and back)

I did hear of people getting it in Dehli but its a long shot. Dont count on it!

Maybe get a second passport and leave it in Australia with a friend with everything filled out then at the right time get them to send it in and sent it back to you where ever you might be.

Well I couldn't get a second passport (Belgium citizen) so I suppose DHL is my best option, I'm glad reading it can be done and trusted though... Just a matter of dealing with local police if you get pulled over I spose...

Thanks for the update, it's comforting.

I thought I couldnt either coming from New Zealand but if you tell them, you will be stranded in a country without international identity or/+ you are going through Israel they might change their mind.

If you are posting your passport back from say india - then you will need to come up with a letter like this

To Whom It May Concern:
Re: Permission to send Passport Number: *****
We the undersigned here by authorize (NAme) to send (sex) (country)
Passport through a courier company to (address)

(NAME) is required to send her passport to (Country) in order to obtain a Pakistan
visa, as the Pakistan Embassy in India is no longer issuing visa to foreign nationals. It will
be returned to her as soon as the visa has been issued.
Sincerely,
(come up with a name)

copy off the internet the images you might need from your country, print it in colour and sign.

DHL India doesnt care if it is a fake they just need something for there paperwork

Lol so you just pretend someone in my home country authorises my passport to be sent away and that's it ?

This'll be fun :)
