Iran Visa. Organized through Iranian Visa.Com.

Fantastic. Simple. Efficient.

1 Email, 1 money transfer.
1 Day to wait at consulate for them to put the visa into passport.

I think that beats 10 days for a Pakistan visa to be issued !.

The Iranian visa has got to be one of the easiest Visas I have got in a long time. I phoned up Hamid at Iranian visa (very cheap through my SkypeOut) as it was around Ramadan and agreed on the date that my Authorization would be completed. I filled out the forms online with all my details and arranged payment. This was done through Western Union to his Turkish Recipient because of International Laws you cannot easily transfer to Tehran. This was the cheapest way of paying the bill. And turned out to be really easy on the internet, and Sarah at IranianVisa.com confirmed receipt of the money within the day.

Collecting my approved visa was amazingly easy too. I went to the Iranian Istanbul Consulate, handed my passport over, they gave me the form to fill in with my passport photo’s and a bank slip to pay the visa bill. I ran around the corner paid the money in, photocopied the application attached my photo’s and returned to the Consulate. Everything was ok, leave your passport and return 10am tomorrow morning. I returned at 9:30am, and collected my Passport with Visa. SIMPLE.

Andy, a very happy biker in Iran on his way to India.

Congrats! and a quick quesiton.....

Great to hear that you have it!
We are heading that way in the next few weeks and had been quite worried about whether we would get our Pakistani visa.
You say you got a LOI from the embassy. Presumably the British embassy in Tehran? What did this LOI actually say? We already have a letter of no objection from a British Embassy (not the one in Tehran) but a British Embassy.....saying that they have no objection with us visiting Pakistan..wonder if this is OK or even the same?

We agreee re the visa for Iran - one of the easiest and fastest we have EVER applied for :-)

How long will you be in India? We may catch you on the road....
regards
-travel safe.

It's not actually a LOI but a letter confirming that the person who is applying for the Pak visa is the genuine holder of the British passport - it's what the UK does to Pakistanis, so they do it to our people as a sort of diplomatic 'tit for tat'.

When you go to the Tehran British Embassy, try asking for Sandra Sianaki - she dealt with us when we got our letter in Aug 07 and was very helpful. Also bear in mind that if there is 2 of you travelling together, you can put both names on the same letter so there is no need to pay double.

Another note on the LOI: as far as I'm aware, any EU or Schengen country can issue the letter (if you are a EU/Schengen citizen) - it doesn't neccessarily have to be your embassy. Sometimes it's worth shopping around, as the British piece of paper costs like 3x more than a German one for example ;-)

Maybe so, but check with the Pakistanis before you front up to their embassy with a British passport in one hand and a German LOI in the other!
