Overstay in one country on Carnet
 

oops

I've stayed longer than 180 days/6months in one country on my carnet.

I don't know what will happen when I try and leave in 5 weeks time (2 months overdue)..

Any clues?

I'm currently in Nepal, exiting into India. The border I came in on, the customs officer couldn't read english and asked me to fill out the carnet, he stamped it. Unfortunately I cannot use this border as its in the wrong direction. Lets just hope that if they notice its no big deal.

There is the tax man of Sunali that people riding Indian plate bikes in Nepal go to , to get new nepali road tax sorted. Maybe he can help, for a fee....


This country is addictive!

Are you exiting towards Darjeeling? That one is pretty small, they might not notice. Or care since you are exiting buuuut...getting into India will be a problem. 5 weeks, can you get it renewed?

Oh whoops read that wrong! Ah, the stay duration is over. If you chance it just play dumb...then gush about how much you love Nepal & are heartbroken to leave:)
