Number plates in Iran

HI
Does anybody know if the numberplates have to be changed to Farsi when you drive in Iran??

Anybody on the road to Iran within the next week, we are planning on crossing the border from Turkey around the 4th of October

Yup they do. And remember, when you get to Australia, they have to be changed to say "Oi Oi Oi" !!!:stupid:

If more than 10 days in Iran you will be given an A4 peice of paper that you take to the registration office then get new plates for the car.

To be honest Bin it we went through they never asked for the plates and we had no problems. others went to all the trouble and were never asked for them.

Drove a UK registered car through Iran in July/August; no Farsi plates. In fact alot of the local cars have two, one in Farsi and one in 'English', around the border towns, probably for when the cross over

Hi,

I spent 27 days in Iran in september riding through from Turkey to Iran with 2 other bikers. We were told that we needed Farsi plates after 10 days, but after posting on the Hubb we were told they were not needed. We did not get them and had no problems, either with the police or the border.

One other thing: When crossing from Turkey we had to buy insurance. However others did not. It was not asked for when we exited the country.
