New Carnet
Hi !
Is there anyone who knows what we have to do to get a second carnet from the ADAC?? We stay now in Perth/Australia and our Carnet's run's out in beginning Oktober. Greetings from rainy Fremantle Werner+Claudia |
ASFAIK you can extend your carnet at the local automobile club in the country you currently are or get a new one from the adac.
or read for yourself (in german): ADAC infos |
Ask for an "Anschlusscarnet" with the ADAC. You do not have to pay a second deposit, just the regular fees (about 150 Euro as far as I remember).

Contact address ADAC
The ladies responsible for carnet issues at the ADAC are Ms. Stephanie and Ms. Damiani. Email is (hopingly still up-to-date)

Hi!
THX for your help! I will send my brother the answer..... So it should be no problem to get another one. You know about a limit for the Anschlusscarnet? maybe after the 2 they wan't give us another one?? Greetings from Perth Werner+Claudia |
Nah, not sure about that. I always believed you can only extend it once, but as I said - I don't really know.
Give them an email. Good luck! Hans |
Hallo Hans!
Do you know if we need a paperwork from the australian Custom for the extension? That they are agree to stay with the bike's in the country...or something else... Greetings Werner+Claudia |
Normally no. As long as the bike is covered by a valid carnet, the customs aren't interested. What's mor important is that your visa or residence permit is still valid ;-)
Have you had any response from the ADAC re your carnet extension yet? Hans |
If you cannot extend
On the more carnets thing .. you may not need a carnet in the next country .. so end the present carnet there .. old one is now finished.
and then start a new one ... I don't see any limit on the number of carnets you can have in a life time ... |
If you want to stay in Oz beyond the date of validity of your current carnet then you may have to get an extension. This is more complicated than an "Anschluss-Carnet".
If, however, you intend to leave before the carnet expires then you may or may not need another one. For example, for NZ you don't need one. It all depends on your plans. |
