Necessity of carnet - trip in Africa
 

Hi fellows

Planing to start a journey in Africa, the route will start in Kenya and will continue through Uganda, South Sudan, DRC, CAR and end on Cameroon.
I have motorcycle that registered in US on my name but dont have "carnet de passage"

Have two issues that I will be glad if someone here have an experience with:

1. Gonna transfer my bike to Kenya by airfreight to Nairobi, from what I know there is huge sum that need to be deposit for enter the bike to Kenya without carnet.. is it right?

2. There is countries of which I mentioned that requires carnet de passage for entering a motorcycle?

If you type Africa without a carnet into the search box in the top right hand corner it will give you many people's experience and advice about doing this which should answer your questions.
You do realise that South Sudan, DRC and CAR are virtual war zones? You might need to reconsider your route, there are plenty of places in Africa that are easier and safer to travel in.
