Leaving a bike in Thailand for a month and "the white paper"

Hi,

in March 09 I want to ship my bike from Kathmandu to Bangkok. After that I would like to leave the bike somewhere safe because I have to fly home from Bangkok and regulate some things for a month (31 days). Btw. I have a carnet...
I now read about the temporary import allowance (white paper) and all the hassle around it incl. the very high penalty. All this doesn't really leave me calm.
I have some options now:

1. Try to get an extension of more than 30 days of the white paper right from the start. But I don't know if I can leave the country with the bike still there.
2. Bring the Bike to Lao or Cambodia and afterward come back to Bangkok and fly home.
3. Leave the bike in Kathmandu and come back there. Would mean more flight costs because I already booked the flight home from Bangkok.

Any helpful ideas or comments are very welcome.

Just finished a trip thru Thai Lao and Cam

As you say 30 day white paper for thailand. Not noted in your passport so you can leave the country without bike.( same in Lao and Cam)

Dont know if an extension is possible

Lao also give you a piece of paper...30 days max

Cambodia happily stamped my carnet, no time limit was mentioned.

Hope this helps
Tim
