Leaving bike in South Africa for 6 months

Hello Everybody.

I travel 6 months per Year (for the last 6 years already). I want to travel to South Africa now and leave my bike there for 6 months.

Dos anybody done this before?

How did You fix this?

If it's not possible to do so, is it possible in one of the neighbourg countries?

Any idea is evry welcome!

Thansk for Your response

Technically it is illegal to leave a vehicle in a country when you have brought it in on a carnet and any carnet is only valid for 6 months in one country but this does not stop people doing it. I have left mine there for three months without a problem but don't know after what period SA customs would try to claim the import duty. If you can get it in without using a carnet or getting a temporary import permit you should be ok.

But if I don't use a CDP then I think the customs will stamp the Moto in my Passport. Then I can't exit the country without the moto.

Is their no legal way to organise this?

I just entered SA on TIP from Nambia. They gave me 6 months for the bike on the TIP and said it was easy to extend at the border. My tourist visa is only valid 90 days. Bike not stamped into passport so am planning to leave the bike and come back.
