Insurance through Nicaragua
 

It seems that I am unable to purchase motorcycle insurance to cover my travels through the countries of Columbia and Nicaragua. I am dealing with the Sunrise Group out of the U.S. who I have used previously. My planned travels extend from Argentina to Canada over a 5 month period. I can bypass Columbia by flying the bike from Ecuador to Panama, but I am not sure what to do about Nicaragua. I do not want to cancel my trip, but I do not want to travel without Insurance (both liability and collision as I have a lot invested in this bike). Any suggestions would be welcomed

Getting liability insurance for Nicaragua should not be a problem because they have been selling it to tourists right at the border and won't let you enter until you have it.
For Colombia I have no knowledge but I might suggest you conact Sanborn's Insurance of McAllen , TX who write insurance policies for travel to Central America for other underwriters based in New York and elsewhere. They may be able to do something for you. They will write such policies via the internet but they do require a lot of lead time. Reach them at www.sanbornsinsurance.com
