Insurance from Cameroon to South Africa

Hi all, I've been travelling through West Africa on the ECOWAS 'Brown Card' insurance but once I leave Nigeria I presume I will need something to cover me in Cameroon and beyond. I intend going from Cameroon down through the two Congos, Angola, Namibia, Botswana and into South Africa where I will take a rest before going back up the East coast. I take it there is no Brown or Yellow card equivilant for this route? Will I even be asked for insurance in these countries? If I have to get insurance, what's the cheapest way? Thanks in advance! :)

If using the jungle road crossing Nigeria - Cameroon (Ekok Mamfe way) then there is no insurance available at the border (well, there wasn't 2 years ago anyway)....first place you can get it is in Mamfe, but I got mine in Limbe. Was 60usd for 6 weeks cover for a large rigid mercedes truck.

Further on I cant help you, but do know Namibia and South Africa can be covered under the yellow card scheme which can also incorporate every country on your way upto Cairo the other side (if you're carrying on from SA that is).

Seldom got asked for it to be honest, but its the law of sod isnt it.... if you dont have any then guaranteeed you'll get stopped and asked to produce your documents at some stage!
