Help bike left in Colombia too long
 

So how much is it going to cost me if a bike was left in Colombia too long. I'm flying down to ride it for a month. (I think its been there 3 months)

Depends if you get caught! I left my bike in Colombia for 7 months before picking it up, but was fortunate enough to get away with it. Dirty Deeds actually set up a new permit, but i recall he had to give blood, literally! A tough beuracratic process that takes a lot of time and effort. if they ask you for your papers, give them everything except your expired permit. Be nice, smile, offer smokes and play with your GPS. Really! This worked for me on a few occasions drawing their attention away from the potential problem. Otherwise, if it really comes down to it and they are about to take your bike away, you may have to offer someone a few refrescos.

What about when you leave Colombia?
 

Don't you have to check your bike "out" of the country ?? (I've only ridden through Central America so far...currently in Colombia...)
