Green Card insurance for Iran?
Greetings all,
I am planning an overland trip from Australia to UK in April/May 2012. The route will be via Central Asia/Iran/Turkey/etc. I have read on other websites that I must have Green Card Insurance when I enter Iran (from Turkmenistan). Can anybody advise me if this is correct and if so where can I get it before reaching the Iran border? All advice appreciated. Cheers, Brian |

But if you´re coming from outside the GC countries, then maybe for you there will be some other local insurance policy available at the border? Just remember if you have an accident, it may turn out those border insurances aren´t worth the paper they´re printed on. But even though traffic is sometimes quite bad, Iran is a great country to visit! |
Hi Pecha,
Thanks for the advice. Hopefully there may be somebody who's made this border crossing recently. Cheers, Brian |
Hi Brian
Went trough there in 2009, came in from Pakistan and went on into Turkey. We did not need any insurance for Iran and for Turkey you can buy it at the border office for about 10.-US Have a great trip Mark http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...es/scooter.gif |
Hi
I just went through the border 2 months ago. They don't have green card coverage unless you are Italian (apparently!!??) . But you just buy it on the border no worries. Cheers Adastra |
Central Insurance

Hi Adastra,
Was that the Turkmenistan/Iran border you went through or the Iran/Turkey border? If it is the Turkmenistan border I would be interested to hear your impressions of the country. Pecha: Thanks for the link to the Iranian Green Card insurance site. Will have a close look at it. Thanks everybody. Cheers, Brian |
