Frame VIN No. cable rub - Crossings?

Hi

Just shipped my bike and there's a cable rub from the clutch cable meaning one number is unreadable. You can still see the rest of the numbers perfectly, and you can still see the VIN sticker in full on the front of headstock.

Bike is a 2000 XT600E.

Travelling through Canada, America, South America.

Is this likely to cause me issues? My agent, HC Travel(Who have been brilliant), have assured me it will be ok.

Anyone have similar experience?

Thanks
Oli

My frame number is positioned in an almost unreadable position behind fairing bracket, electrical connectors and cables. In 50+ border crossings they have only ever attempted to read it 4 or 5 times and in each case because they can see enough of it to match up to the paperwork they are happy. I think you are very unlikely to have a problem.

I've ridden in every mainland country in the Americas--north, south, central--plus a couple of islands. The only place I've had any real difficulty was Cuba, where a very dedicated public servant spent the better part of a half-hour in the tropical sun struggling to get a complete, clear rubbing. Opportunities to ship your bike into Cuba are severely limited (and expensive), but if tempted you might want to think twice.

Hope that's helpful.

Mark
