No, the Insurance companies aren't interested; just make sure that your bike ins covers you for where you are going - there will be a list of EU countries somewhere in the policy.
The problem is that, normally, your policy will cover you for only basic cover in each country -whatever the legal basic cover is, even if you have fully comp cover here in the UK.
If this keeps you awake at night, then contact your insurer and talk with them.

You don't need your passport within Europe, just to leave here and get back in!

Hi Hooli, you'd do well to get an EHIC (health card entitles you to treatment within the EU) link here,European Health Insurance Card - EHIC - E111 I'd get some travel insurance as well better safe than sorry, but make sure it covers you for riding your bike most policies only cover upto 125cc so check the smallprint :thumbup1:

No, the EHIC (former E-111) is for citizens from and within the European Economic Area (comprising the EU and the EFTA countries).

As the UK does not issue any kind of ID card, I think you will find that you do need it id you get stopped for anything.

I don't agree, as long as you are carrying some other form of picture ID it is fine, like the new driving licence.

Also it *is* possible to exit the UK and re-enter without a passport through Dover/Calais :-)
