Does a Southafrican purchased bike need carnet?
 

If i buy a bike in Southafrica, does it need a carnet to pass through other African countries to get to Europe?

Has anyone done this?

further, check the South African AA website:
Carnet de Passages en Douane - The AA of South Africa

The PDF document there states the following:

A carnet is required for travel in: Africa:
o Egypt (compulsory) - 200% deposit required to the value of vehicle


Also, if you're not an SA resident, you can get a carnet, but the minimum deposit is the value of the bike
