Customs costs accompanying mbike on freighter into Israel

Just wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what I might pay at customs if I arrive on a RoRo freighter from Turkey to Israel (Izmir-Ashdod by Grimaldi), both myself and the bike on the same boat. I will have a carnet but I'm told I wouldn't use it for Israel so a temporary importation I'm assuming.

Thanks!

As far as I know, for Israel you need neither a carnet, nor a TIP. (I crossed with an EU registered vehicle, so maybe it plays some role, so I am not 100% sure).

According to my experience also, RORO shipments are easier in terms of clearance and involve less or zero customs but of course it depends on the destination.

We have done 2 ROROs from Israel to Greece and from Germany to Canada and we didnt pay customs at all. In both cases, we did the clearance by ourselves without the need of a clearing agent.

Did you advise your shipping agent?

thanks - that makes me feel a lot better to hear that! :) I don't have a shipping agent as such - I am just in contact with Grimaldi Lines directly.

So, it is Grimaldi then that has to inform you about any customs fees that you might need to pay.

Its true, when you ship in RORO, you dont need an agent. My mistake! I meant your shipper.

REMEMBER: You must be the consignee in the BOL/ Arrival Notice (& also the Notify Party in most of the cases)
