Collision Insurance For Europe

I have found a good price for liability insurance through Knopp (got it through this web site, thanks), but I'm still looking for collision for 3 - 4 months.

Should I or can I get it when I arrive in Amsterdam prior to picking up the bike?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark, and welcome to the HUBB!

Sorry it's not good news I have to report. Insurance for collision, theft etc. is VERY expensive. Generally you CANNOT buy it locally (including Amsterdam) with a foreign registered bike.

There is a company (AIU) in the US who offers it through Motorcycle Express, but the price is over US$700 for 3 months full coverage (that would include liability insurance as well).

This topic was fairly well covered last summer, including research by Maarten in the Netherlands which ruled out buying it in Amsterdam. Here's the thread:

Good luck!

I’m in the opposite boat. I’ve found a company in the UK that will do overland insurance for the insured’s property only. It is expensive, about £400 for 3-4months on a £4000 bike! I think I’ll do without. The company web site is www.campbellirvine.com . I’m still looking for liability insurance for travel through the Baltic States and Europe. If you could forward on the details you have it would be greatly appreciated.
