Chile to Colombia with chilean bike - possible?

Hello people!
I am new to the hubb, so sorry if my post is in the wrong category or something.
I am planning a trip from Chile to Colombia on motorcycle. That should be happing between october 23 and january 24.
The idea is to fly to Santiago and buy and register a bike there. I have a small cc enduro-like bike in mind, like the Honda XR 190 or something like that. Is Santiago a good place to find a bike like that? Is it still possible to register a bike in my name following the instructions in the thread "Buying Used Bike in Santiago Chile"? Which countries can i enter with that bike? I am planning to visit Argentina, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia, maybe Paraguay and Brazil too. And last question, could i sell my chilean in Colombia?
To me, i am 32 years old from Germany.
I would be very happy to get some tips or answers to the questions above :)
Thank you!
Peter

Hi Peter,

welcome to the HUBB. It is possible to register a bike to your name being a foreigner. The only things you need are help from a Chilean resident to get your RUT and some patience to deal with the paperwork. You can also travel along the route, that you described, but you cannot cross directly from Chile to Perú. It is a matter of customs legislation.

Although many people do it, selling your motorcycle outside its country of origin is illegal.

Don’t hesitate to ask if you need more detailed information. I am German, too.

Ride safe!
Martin
