Carnet - specific percentages in countries

Sorry to ask yet another carnet questions (I have searched!)

Where can I find details of what percentages each country charges. I've heard that Egypt and Iran are very high but I can't find details. What I'd love to see is a list of all the African countries and what % they charge.

I have been looking for the same info and got refered to the lonley planet/thorn tree but every time that info is posted it gets removed same as the border crossings and visa costs.

will be following this post with lots of intrest as going to be traveling with this equipment

1. Landrover 110 with motorcycle on the back on a bike rack.. (home made)
2. Haleydavidson MT 350. (THE BIKE)
3. Photogaphy equipment
4. Video equipment

So caret cost must be kept to a minimum..

Hope you get all the info you require. A couple of countries the temp import is 800 percent so that option changes my route every time as only willing for 100percent carnet import.

the people who supply the carnet will tell you.

and, get the insurance option with the carnet as it's much cheaper. also, lie about the value of your vehicle. if you are not comfortable lying, then just make it up.

edit: additional equipment has nothing to do with it, a carnet is not insurance it's to do with vehicle duty.

here you go..

carnet link

there's a phone number on that page. call them up, and post back the results....

If you open this page -
RAC provide information on the carnet de passage

At the bottom it says -
More information is available to download here
Then end if page 1.

We should add here that the amount of deposit for the carnet not only depends on the countries you visit, but also on the auto club that issues the carnet, so this would become a matrix impossible to maintain.

There is only one carnet fee and that depends only on the club.

Hope that clarifies things a little.

Thanks for that link - it works. Looks like a tip to Africa is 200% for Kenya, 150% for everywhere else (and I'll miss out Egypt at 800%!)

Only slightly confusing bit is that it says South America is 300%. I thought you didn't need a carnet for South America. perhaps you don't need one but if you do have one its 300%.

Just for peoples info. Iran,India,Pakistan,SriLanka and Nepal were 500%
Libya and Middle East are 200%

As stated before, it depends on the issuing motor club.
My French carnet included Iran and Egypt with no extras specified. My travelling comrades, who had an RAC carnet, specifically excluded Egypt...

I have some news for carnets from india!...The carnet values in india is 350% of vehicle value. Every country will have the same value. So i can include egypt in africa route planning.
the disappointing fact is that i wont be able leave my motorbike in france for a friend. seems i cannot dispose the vehicle even by paying the local import duty..so i need to plan for return journey too.

Any queries on carnets from india are welcome friends.

Pare.
