Carnet question
 

Ok guys ive read the carnet info but it does not really answer what i need to know.

To give a bit of background, due to costs/nature of our proposed trip we (coming from australia) are NOT going to ship our bikes to africa to do the below trip.

What were hopefully going to do is :

1) buy a motorbike in morocco in some second hand market etc.

2) use this bike to do the following trip

Morocco
Algeria
Tunisia
Libya
Egypt
Sudan
Ethiopia
Kenya
Tanzania
Malawi
Mozambique
Zimbabwe
Botswana
Namibia
South Africa

3) Ditch the bike in South Africa.

Now i realise the rules of the carnet, but there must be some way around paying the import duty in our last country (i.e. south africa)

So i have these questions :

1) does anyone know if its possible for us to register these bikes we buy in morocco in order to use them on a carnet ?

2) there must be some legal way not to pay this duty on exit even without the bikes coming out of south africa. I.e if we get them scrapped etc, or whether it was possible for people to bribe these fficials just to get the export stamp on it.

3) would it just be possible to avoid the whole carnet system and use each countries method (depositing cash at each border). If so when you leave is there any hassle with getting the amount you deposited back ? or like many countriies in africa is this skimmed each time ?

4) what if the bike breaks down &/or is a complete write off ? surely that certificate must invalidate any carnet upn which it is based ?

Any help from anyone who has done a similar trip would be greatly greatly appreciated.
