Carnet question
Ok, Carnets.
I am planning a trip from Manchester, UK to Kenya, Africa using two yamaha tenere 660's. The purpose of the trip is to raise funds to purchase the bikes then deliver them to a clinic in Kiagware, Kenya. I will apply to the RAC to get the Carnets but what do I do when I leave the bikes in Africa? Can I claim the VAT back in the UK? Will I have to pay import tax in Kenya? how do I pay it? |

Hi, A carned the passage is a prommis to bring the bike out of the country again. If you leave it in a country you have to pay importtax and get the last page filed out and stamped otherwise you woll not get your deposit back. Usuarly you pay cash at the customs office. If you dont pay the VAT will pay for you after the claim but then you have to wayt about 6 years to get the rest of your deposit back if there is any... Regards |
