Carnet for Ecuador ?

Is there anyone, who has crossed the border into Ecuador (overland) in the last few months !
Did you need the Carnet de Passage ?
I got different information about this topic in the last months and plan to drive to Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador in the next weeks.
Thanks for everey news, Gerald

No, a Carnet is not needed for Ecuador, unless your spanish is extremely poor and you cannot communicate with the border officials. The peru / ecuador border is laughable it is so easy, if you can cross at San Ignacios it is much mellower.

Hello 'jrmallory',
Thank You for Your reply.
I have crossed this border already, from Peru to Ecuador at Macara.
The only paper I have needed was my 'Internationaler Zulassungsschein' (a paper I got in Germany as an international form of the german vehicle document for about 10 US dollar).
This paper has place for stamps and I got one.
My only problem was, that I had not got a similar stamp of the Peruan officials. Therefore I had to go back over the bridge to ask for another stamp from Peru.
This 'Internationaler Zulassungsschein' paper contains (beside the bike data) translation pages, pages for (visa) stamps, and is good for Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Cuba, Honduras, Jamaika, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay (in the Americas), as it tolds in an overview page.
For my further travels in the Americas I will try to go with this single paper only.
Many countries in Europe have a similar document, which they have contracted around 1926 (!)
Have good travel and easy borders,
Gerald
