Carnet de Passage non-EU vehicles
 

Dear all,

my name is Wout Bakker, I am 27 years old and I live in the Netherlands. At the moment I am in Kathmandu, Nepal where I have bought a Royal Enfield classic 350. My plan is to drive the motorcycle back to Holland in the coming four months. I have arranged all the visa and the motorbike is registered on my name. The "only" thing I need to do now is to issue a Carnet de Passage (CdP) to travel through India, Pakistan and Iran. I have been informed that this could be done via the ADAC, however they told me that they stopped issuing CdP's for non-EU registered vehicles, which is quite a drawback for me.

Do you guys maybe know through which association CdPs can still be issued for non-EU bikes? Or is there another way out?

Contact the Automobile Association of India, ditto Pakistan, ditto Iran.
I know for certain that you can go through Iran with a temporary import permit. The link to the providor is on the Auto assoc of the Islamic republic of Iran's site.
Every country has temporary import permits. This is how locals can go back and forth, they don't have carnets.


Persistence.

There should be an automobile association in Nepal. Contact them. Carnets are usually issued locally... And they can take quite a lot of time .. and money.

Don't think you will have any luck with the Indian nor Pakistani Automobile Associations .. the Indian one in particular has some instruction about Indian Enfield not to be issued with carnets .. so they maybe reluctant to do the same for a Nepali one.

Apart from the Carnet, another consideration, assuming you want to keep using it, is whether you will ever be able to register the bike anywhere in the EU.
