Buying insurance at Ukrainian Russian border

I'm heading to Japan from the UK via the Ukraine and Vladivostock in July 2020 and wondered if any one has bought insurance for Russia at the Krupets / Katerynivka border crossing?
I have not found any mention of it on the forum.

Any knowledge about this gratefully received.

I have not crossed that particular border, but smaller crossings such as this may have an insurance agent that only keeps normal business hours. So I would advise you to cross during these times.

I once crossed the Velyka Pisarivka / Graivoron border a little to the south on a Sunday and found the insurance office closed; in the end I drove down to the crossing just south of Belgorod and bought it there in the middle of the night.

Alternatively, you can look for insurance offices in towns near the border - look for OSAGA Russian insurance.

You could also just switch to the major border crossing at Bachivsk / Troyebortnoye where there will be an insurance agent most likely around the clock.

Hi,
Thanks for the advice. I agree - crossing at Bachivsk is the logical solution. I am going on an 80's sportsbike not an ADV so I'm trying to keep to major roads if possible and since I want to go to Saratov I wanted to avoid cutting south to Kursk on small unpredictable roads. ( It's 25 years since I was last in Russia and so calling any road out there 'predictable' seems wrong to me! ).
If it is wet I will probably go on the A142 all the way to Trosna and then down to Kursk.
