Hello all,

I will arrive by plane without a bike from Paris in Santiago, Chile on 01 fev 2006, will drive in Chile, then Bolivia, then Peru until lima : I have to fly back to Paris from Lima on 01 march 2006, so only one month holidays because now I m working again in Paris.

So, I am looking to buy a small cheap bike, like a 125 cc courier bike (Honda cg style) or a little bit bigger bike like a Honda nx 200 or nx250 or xr250 in Santiago Chile, something like this. I was thinking of a 500 euros budget. I will try to sell it again in Lima, Peru.

I need to buy and NOT RENT because I may have some problems with the local police and at the customs borders if the bike does not belong to me (paperwork need to have my name on it).

I would appreciate your sympathy if you can help me to buy a bike in advance. If also you have official information for the correct paperwork of the bike i buy in Chile, for the customs border crossings (Chile, Bolivia, Peru) and insurances in each country, I would appreciate.

Thanx a lot in advance,
Cheers, happy trails.

Hi Like and Vincent,

Try the regional board for South America. There is some good info on buying in Chile.

Hope this helps and let me know how it goes.

Be safe,
