buying bike in USA
 

G'day
doin' a 6 months Anchorage-Ushuaia in August 2008 on a 1200GS (2-up). We are Aussies and want to buy the bike in USA either Chicago where we have friends or Anchorage.
Questions:
1 has anybody experience with BMW dealers in Chigago or Anchorage?
2 Registration in USA or Canada? I have this thought that a Canadian number plate is a safer thing in central and south america?
3 third party insurance in those countries
