Bringing an Armenia-registered vehicle to Europe/UK

Hi folks

Most threads here are about taking Western-registered vehicles to the developing world. I'm finding it difficult to get first-hand regarding doing the vice versa – bringing a vehicle registered outside of the EEC/EU overland to the UK.

I've found this already, which makes it sound easy, but bureaucracy and reality are usually two different things, and I'm more concerned about the EU land border (probably Poland or Bulgaria).

(In case anyone's interested, the plan is to convert one of these into a lil' camper van...)

Thanks!

Tom

Hi Tom,
I have just spotted your post and this is what little I know, make sure the vehicle is legal in country of origin and get a green card for the EU, these people might be able to help unless they only do bike insurance, I am not sure.

Once you are in the EU, into Bulgaria? do not go out into countries like Serbia just stay in all the way home. Once you are here good luck with registration, you will probably need single vehicle approval but it should be possible, a great looking vehicle by the way.

Good idea on on the UAZ :). I love these vehicles.

I will try and verify what You need for entering Poland but I can`t see it being the first EU country You will enter (unless You plan to go through Ukraine).

Thanks guys. Yes, I'd be going through Ukraine hence Poland being a possibility. Also, I'd be taking it back out again after a few weeks so I hope that means I don't need Vehicle Approval?!

So I get the right info (as it`s probably diffrent for both cases), can You clarify if You have a EU passport or Armenian one?

If you're not actually going to keep it in the EU, then there is no problem. It needs to be legally registered and have a valid inspection in the country of origin, and you need to get EU insurance (Green Card) - in practice you will see booths selling this all over the border towns next to the EU.

Hell, I've seen more than one car here in Estonia on Georgian plates!
