Belize to Guatemala question

Other than the departure taxes,
Are there any special customs/immigration considerations I should be aware of in this scenario:
I enter Belize overland with my motorcycle from Mexico. Then I leave my bike in Belize and travel to Guatemala by air, fly back to Belize after 2 days, and then a week later re-enter Guatemala on my bike?

Why am I doing this you may ask?
I'll be well into a 6 month ride by then and my wife is meeting me in Belize. She wants to see Tikal but she won't get on a motorcycle:scooter:. So I'm storing my bike for 10 days while I act like a tourist.

Clearly I've not attempted what you are doing (I wonder has anyone!) But I crossed in and out of Guatemala a few times over a 2 month period (including the Belize/Guatemala crossing nearest Tikal) with a van with no difficulties or complications. The only unusual thing was the Belize exit tax. Based on the paperwork I filled out I can't see there being a problem. Might be worthwhile just making sure you're stamped out of Guatemala when you're returning to Belize.

I hope that helps.

Ian

Thanks Ian,

I've got emails in to both the consulates to see if they can give me any advice. I'll post up what I find

I received a reply from the Embassy of Guatemala in Canada and it is not going to be a problem. Here is the message I received:

To travel to Guatemala you as a Canadian passport holder not need a visa. At the entrance to the International Airport, the migration agent as a tourist, will give 60 days to stay in the country. As explained to be back out and enter by land with the motorcycle, must have insurance. I think you will pay approximately U.S. $ 40.00 and can stay the month. They will give an entry called "in transit" If you need the bike to stay longer in Guatemala, have to ask how to proceed migrating to extend the permit No you'll not have problems, for besides that motorcycle has to be under your name. Any other questions feel free to write again. We are sending some interesting places to visit in my country, and enjoy your stay.

It seems I have found a flaw in this plan. The temporary import of the bike into Belize can cause me a problem if I leave without it. So I'm thinking of leaving it in Mexico while I do the Belize/Guatemala.
Now this also could be a problem with the Mexican TVIP. Can I leave the bike in Mexico for 10 days without cancelling the TVIP and then go back to get it?
