Banks for Carnet guarantee
How naive I can be. I thought that if the bank has your money, and you sign something to give the bank full access to it; they could in turn sign the RAC form that guarantees payment of the carnet in case of problems.
The only bank I've found is LLoyds TSB, who, on top of the the administration fee, charge an extra 2% of the amount deposited. Bloody thievery! Can anyone point me to a bank, or even a specific branch, where there is someone who has already done the carnet signature please. Here's hoping... Luke |
I ran into the same trouble! I've banked with Barclays for 18 years and they said "write to our complaints people". in fairness, for 1.5%, they eventually did it. I asked at HSBC and they would have done it for 50 pounds (no symbol!) on the condition that I moved all my monies to their bank! I stayed with Barclays as their 1.5% covered both years and I couldn't be bothered to move my internet banking
let me know if you need someone specific to talk to and I'll dig out the Birmingham phone numbers. good luck Richard |
Hi
we used Natwest, back in 98, 99,2000 and they charged us a one off fee of approx £50. Can't remember who we spoke to but it was someone at head office and it took ages to get hold of the right person. Good luck ------------------ ChrisC |
Luke,
I got my bank guarantee through NatWest in 2001 for £75. Luckily there was someone at the branch who had dealt with one the year before, so they knew who to talk to. The guarantee was issued by the bank's lending centre and the process was very straight forward, but I have been with the bank since I was 7 years old!! Good luck.
